Being in the mortgage business for the past 12 years has given me great pleasure in helping so many people either buy or refinance their homes. To see the joy on a person’s face when receiving the keys to their new home for the very first time—and knowing that my sound advice has helped them achieve their goal of home ownership—has been very rewarding.

Now my mission has changed from helping people into a home to helping people stay in their home. It bothers me to see so many people in crises and loosing one of their most prized possessions—and most likely their biggest financial investment: their home. In all my years, I have not heard so many sad stories of hardship and fraud as I do today. I made a prediction about the housing market crises two years ago to a very good friend of mine, and unfortunately, I was right. The lending institutions and Wall Street investors have been recklessly setting themselves—and you—up for failure by the practices in which they marketed and approved their very liberal lending programs. Now, since that has all blown up, there’s quite a mess to be fixed, and it won’t be as easy as it was to create. The urgency in this matter is growing every day. It’s imperative that we fix this matter as soon as humanly possible, both for our country’s economy and for the sense of security we find in our homes.
